“Soft beds are more suitable for older people. Blood vessels become more fragile and joints lose muscle support, so sleeping on a hard surface can cause circulation problems. “In addition, older people often have problems with heat exchange, and sleeping on a soft bed will be warmer,” the expert began.
However, in some cases, it is worth choosing a hard or medium-hard mattress accordingly.
“Especially if the person has problems with their spine. “In this case, you need to contact a specialist doctor and choose a mattress according to his recommendations,” added the designer.
Svetlana Kosareva also called for taking into account personal preferences and testing the mattress in the store in a specialized studio before purchasing it.
“Sleep is a rest in which nothing should disturb you. Therefore, if you have slept on a hard bed all your life, you should not immediately buy a soft bed, but choose the model that is most comfortable for you personally. Regardless of hardness, mattresses can be with or without spring blocks. The former provides better body support and has a good orthopedic effect. However, you should not use Bonnel spring models, they create a hammock effect, as a result, the weight is distributed unevenly and the spine cannot assume a physiological position,” he warned.
According to him, for people over 60 years old, a bed with an independent spring block is best suited, each of which is in a separate case and works independently.
“Please note that there must be at least 250 springs per square meter. This will ensure an even distribution of the load on the sleeping place,” explained the expert.
Svetlana Kosareva added that the materials from which the bed is made are important.
“The composition should include natural or artificial latex, which has good elasticity and absorbs moisture, and elastic memory foam, which perfectly adapts to the shape of the body,” the designer concluded.
