Tutu.ru service experts told socialbites.ca how to prepare for a long bus trip, what nuances need to be taken into account and what you need to take with you.

“First, learn everything about the shipping company. There are different bus companies in Russia – they have different levels of comfort and rules for issuing tickets. “Before buying a ticket, get information about the carrier in advance, check whether the seats are reclined, whether there is a toilet and air conditioning on the bus, how many bags and suitcases you can take with you,” experts began.

They also recommended reading reviews from other travelers and getting insurance before traveling.

“Before you go on vacation, you can get insurance that will cover your health expenses as well as travel insurance. You probably won’t use it, but you will make sure everything is under control,” analysts said.

Another tip they recommend is to bring snacks, a blanket, warm socks, and a phone charger.

“Although you often crave blackberries in the summer, it is better to choose sandwiches, apples and other foods that will not stain your clothes. Also do not take food with strong smells – be respectful of other passengers. However, you should definitely put wipes and antiseptic in your bag. Also download music albums, podcasts and audiobooks you haven’t discovered yet before your trip; All of these can help distract you. “Don’t forget a well-charged power bank to avoid being out of touch,” experts said.

According to them, you need to take medicines with you, but they should be placed in your hand luggage, not in the luggage compartment.

“If you are afraid of getting motion sickness, study the route in advance: traveling on a straight road is preferable to traveling on winding roads in the mountains. “Sit near the front of the cabin, look ahead or out the window instead of looking at your phone, take your medications if necessary before the trip, everything will be fine,” they said.

And to avoid getting tired on the bus, experts recommend stretching at every stop.

“Even if you don’t want to go to the toilet when the bus stops and you don’t plan to buy anything from the gas station, it’s better to go out. A walk, even if it is very short, will make the journey more enjoyable and easier. Remember the bus number, check how many minutes the stop takes and do not go too far,” concluded the service’s analysts.
