Singing on the Roofs, a mix of documentary and representation of fiction that could be true, stems from the close relationship between director Enric Ribes and transformative Gilda Love since they produced the micro-track of the same name in 2017. last lines ‘The Ladybug’s Song’ by Federico García Lorca.

Love can be considered the last travesty of Barcelona’s Chinatown, so the film is also a chronology of an unrepeatable lifestyle in a very lamentable, completely mutated neighborhood. But the interesting thing is the character itself, The fictional story that Ribes weaves around The family he would never have, with the presence of a young woman and her daughter.

In this way, the film converges in different directions, from the melodrama to the neighborhood chronicle, from the archive film with interesting footage of performances at the famous Bodega Bohemia, to the idealization of an inaccessible existence. Of course, it is due to: the director’s ability to make this ‘perpetual queen’ out of Raval’s old school feel comfortable and express yourself naturally in front of the camera, himself and also the protagonist of an invention where the camera captures a pure, clear reality.
