Film Pablo Berger’s ‘Robot Dreams’ lost the Oscar to ‘The Boy and the Heron’ in the best animated film category.The work of Japanese master Hayao Miyazaki. Other productions competing in this section were ‘Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse’ (‘Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse’), ‘Elemental’ and ‘Nimona’.
Miyazaki did not attend the premiere because, as his shooting colleagues told EFE before the ceremony, he was going to take a “break” after shooting this movie.
‘The Boy and the Heron’ tells the story of a 12-year-old orphan boy who, when he moves to a new city, manages to connect with his mother through a new dimension and meets a talking heron. This became the second non-English speaking film in history in the best animated film category, after ‘Spirited Away’ (2001), also directed by Miyazaki.
