During rehabilitation after a series of cosmetic procedures, it is not recommended to go out during daylight hours, so it can be done in winter. Cosmetologist and dermatovenerologist Evgenia Antimirova, medical director of the Aesthetic Clinic chain of clinics, told socialbites.ca.
According to the doctor, in the cold season it is preferable to carry out resurfacing, especially with CO2 and erbium laser – they are aimed at rejuvenating the skin, combating pigmentation, scars, scars and other defects.
“Active sun is a strict contraindication for these techniques. During the procedure, laser rays penetrate all layers of the skin, after which it is important to use a cream with maximum SPF when going out and constantly renew it throughout the entire rehabilitation period, which lasts at least a month.” explained Antimirova.
He added that resurfacing was only carried out until mid-February because the sun became active later.
The doctor noted that another procedure that should be done in late autumn or winter is photorejuvenation. It involves treating facial skin with broadband pulsed light, which absorbs color pigments, which are consequently destroyed. This way you can get rid of age spots and freckles.
“After the photorejuvenation procedure, one of the recommendations for renewing the skin surface is to maximally protect the skin from exposure to sunlight for two weeks to prevent hyperpigmentation,” Antimirova said.
Antimirova concluded that chemical peels are among the procedures best done in winter.
“In modern cosmetology, laser peels are used more often due to their effectiveness and predictability; Unlike chemical peels, the doctor can control the depth of the effect without damaging the skin. However, if you want to do chemical peeling, January and early February are the best times for this,” the doctor warned.
