‘Wonka’ tales about what the origins of Willy Wonka, the eccentric master chocolatier created by Roald Dahl in ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, might have been.. Fairy tale because Paul King’s film based on this character – with the compelling backdrop of the infamous ‘Paddington’ and ‘Paddington 2’ – Invent a new dream without betraying the original. In this new design of a fantasy world, city sewers become a wartime resistance-like network, Wonka and his friends act as manteros hiding their stalls when the police arrive, and a criminal syndicate exists. A chocolate cartel that is overseen by 500 monks who are addicted to cocoa and chocolate and hide their treasures in the basement of a cathedral. Some bad grapes go to waste film despite its polished surface.
In this remake, both the production design and the songs shine, as The Divine Comedy is a musical composed by Neil Hannon and Joby Talbot: pop, cabaret, classical musical and Kurt Weill are brought together well. Good ideas abound.: In the town where young Wonka comes from, the police charge anyone who daydreams, and the hero’s salty chocolates are made from the bittersweet tears of a Russian clown. Roald Dahl, without Roald Dahl. And with a more reserved Timothée Chalamet than usual.
