Movie magazine Empire began publishing exclusive material on the TV series “The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power”. One of the notes is dedicated to the Harfoots, the forerunners of the hobbits, who had not yet settled in the Shire. In the film adaptation, these roles were played by black actors.
One of the Roughfoots is called Zadok Burroughs, played by Lenny Henry. In the series, a tribe of halflings will roam from place to place and sometimes get into trouble.
Henry also stated that he was honored to play a character of color: “In this show, kids will finally see people of color taking their place in the middle of a fantasy series. We’re very visible in this world, and it’s exciting. The furfoots’ journey is about to begin.”

In another comment, the show’s creators noted that they prefer not to compete with the “Game of Thrones” and the Peter Jackson trilogy, also trying to follow the spirit of the original. “One of our mantras was, ‘Let’s go back to the source material. What would Tolkien do?” said showrunner Patrick McKay.

The series premiere will take place on September 2. Attention!
