However, these types of toothpastes are quite aggressive and can damage tooth enamel, so you should not use them more than once or twice a week. “On other days, the best solution would be to use remineralizing or normal hygienic toothpaste,” he said.
The expert also warned against the use of citric acid.
“Although the product helps lighten the tooth enamel by 1-2 shades, the whitening effect will be short-term and the consequences for the teeth will be fatal. Under the influence of aggressive acids, tooth enamel becomes porous and quickly breaks down. “Extreme sensitivity accompanied by severe pain in the teeth occurs, and if this whitening method is abused, the surface layer of the tooth enamel is destroyed,” he said.
Baking soda is also dangerous, according to the dentist.
“The dry powder applied to the working area of the toothbrush during friction scratches the surface of the tooth enamel, leaving chips and scratches on it. “It is almost impossible to notice microdamage to the teeth on your own, but a person may feel discomfort and experience a painful reaction to cold and heat, which is associated with the exposure of dentinal tubules and increased sensitivity of tooth enamel,” he explained.
Avtandilyan advised consulting a specialist to whiten the teeth in the clinic and use special tapes at home.
