Prada will make outfits for a team of 23 players and delegates, who will wear them during travel and official events. The Italian fashion house said in a statement that this would give the team a “fresh and modern look off the pitch”.
The team’s new official jersey consists of a black blazer and matching pants, a button-down shirt and loafers.
In mid-July, the women’s soccer team from China will travel to Australia to compete in the Women’s World Cup. The players are expected to showcase Prada’s new form there for the first time.
Prada’s partnership with the team will continue beyond the World Cup and will include “various major summer competitions” such as the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou in September and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
“The Chinese women’s soccer team has gained a worldwide reputation and is an inspiration for young athletes, drawing the attention of the public and institutions to a democratic and inclusive sport,” Prada said in a statement.
