A sedentary lifestyle leads to congestion in the pelvic area, so people can develop a number of pathologies. Vascular surgeon Danil Naumov told socialbites.ca about this.

“The cavity of our pelvis and lower limbs contains a large number of venous and lymphatic vessels. The muscles in our legs are large pumps that help the heart beat gravity by pumping blood from the bottom up. In a sitting position, your muscles do not contract, which leads to stagnation, and where there is constant “stagnation” sooner or later problems arise,” said Danil Naumov.

The doctor listed some pathologies that can develop in those who spend a lot of time in a sitting position.

“Cystitis and pyelonephritis – congestion leads to a decrease in local immunity, – the risk of developing hemorrhoids due to stagnation of blood and overstretching of the vessels of the small pelvis, infertility in men due to overheating of the scrotum in the sitting position, impotence due to stagnation and weakness of the pelvic muscles,” said the vascular surgeon.

In addition, according to him, physical inactivity leads to the development of obesity, varicose and deep vein thrombosis, cardiovascular disease, and also increases the risk of cancer.

As Danil Naumov points out, you can move more if you do a two-minute warm-up every hour during sedentary work, refuse to use the elevator, go a few stops earlier than necessary, or park farther from the office or home.

The doctor also advised to “stretch the pelvic muscles, for example, do the Kegel exercise in a sitting position” and give yourself dynamic loads in the form of swimming, yoga or jogging for 30-40 minutes 4-5 times a week. .
