Sportswear brand adidas has been criticized on social media for featuring a man in an advertisement for its women’s swimwear collection. It has been reported daily mail.

Swimwear and other women’s clothing in the Pride 2023 collection are presented in the women’s section of the brand’s website. However, they are represented by a man with a hairy chest and a pronounced protrusion in the groin area. Designed by South African designer Rich Mnisi, these swimsuits are said to be “a celebration of the unwavering belief that self-expression, fantasy and love meet”.

This swimsuit model selection has seen a surge in social media calls to boycott adidas products. In protest, athletes and casual buyers speak out under the hashtag #BoycottAdidas.

American swimmer Riley Gaines wrote on Twitter that women’s swimsuits are not designed so that the penis is prominent in the groin.

“I don’t understand why companies are willing to do this. At least they could say that this swimsuit is “unisex”, but they did not, because the point is to get rid of women, ”the athlete got angry.

In contrast, US Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green expressed surprise that a major brand excluded women, who are half of their audience.

“Trade is made for profit, not politics. Meaningless. Who is telling them to do this?”

Previously reportedthat adidas’ quarterly results were significantly better than analysts’ forecasts.
