The Dukes of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have complained of being harassed by the paparazzi in New York and described their pursuit as “almost disastrous”. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms Ragland got into an almost disastrous car chase last night, surrounded by an extremely aggressive circle of paparazzi,” the couple’s spokesperson said in a statement.
According to the Dukes, the harassment of street photographers caused a number of accidents on the road and continued for a long time.
“This relentless pursuit, which lasted about two hours, has in some cases resulted in near collisions with other drivers, pedestrians and two police officers on the road,” the statement said.
The chase allegedly took place after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left Siegfried Hall, where the Women of Vision Awards were held.
The fact of the persecution was indirectly confirmed by the police, who stated that at the exit of the building the Dukes of Sussex were surrounded by a “swarm” of paparazzi.
According to the couple’s spokesperson, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were followed by about six cars with tinted windows driven by unknown persons. They drove cars recklessly, putting others in danger, which could have a tragic outcome.
