New York Mayor Turns Historic Roosevelt Hotel into Immigrant Shelter

The 1000-room hotel has been closed for the last three years. It now organizes legal and medical services, a service to restore relations with relatives, and shelters for those in need of shelter.

In the near future, 175 hotel rooms will be offered to families with children, and the number of rooms will increase to 850 later on.

The luxury hotel, which became operational in 1924, is owned by Pakistan International Airlines. It was closed in 2020 due to financial difficulties caused by sanitary restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. It never opened after that.
