The artist’s company, Roc Nation, wrote an open letter about his plan to build a casino in a New York City tourist destination. It contains plans to “improve the lives of ordinary New Yorkers.” For the right to build a casino, the rapper competes with four other billionaires: New York Mets baseball club Steve Cohen, owner of Miami Dolphins football club Steven Ross, real estate developer Stefan Solovyov and businessman John Katsimatidis.

“The winning group must be experienced in turning words into action, putting New York and its people of all races, religions, nationalities, genders, sexual orientations and socioeconomic backgrounds first,” the letter states.

In December 2022, Jay-Z partnered with SL Green and Caesar Entertainment in their quest to open New York City’s first casino in Times Square.

“This is a pivotal moment in the glorious history of our city. An entertainment epicenter with palpable energy, Times Square is unrivaled. Roc Nation and our partners are here to keep Times Square connected to every facet of culture, Jay-Z said in a statement.

Roc Nation has also proposed a plan to improve the lives of New Yorkers that includes investing in medicine, improving the transportation system, and advocating for the interests of actors, producers, theater workers, writers and philanthropists.
