It is not recommended to take analgesics when abdominal pain occurs. Ksenia Khalaidzheva, a gastroenterologist at the Nearmedic clinic in Simonovsky Val, told socialbites.ca about this.

“Abdominal pain can have many causes, and the use of analgesics can be not only useless, but also dangerous,” said Ksenia Khalaidzheva.

According to the gastroenterologist, it is acceptable to take antispasmodics, as “spasms often cause abdominal pain.”

“They do no harm, as they do not interfere with the mechanisms of developing pain sensitivity, which does not allow them to obscure the picture of acute surgical pathology. This distinguishes antispasmodics from pain relievers such as analgin, paracetamol and ibuprofen, which do not affect the cause of the pain, namely spasm, ”explained the doctor.

He added that if antispasmodics do not provide relief, a doctor should be called.

“If taking antispasmodics does not relieve the condition, or you notice an increase in body temperature, general weakness, dizziness, nausea or vomiting, increased pain, immediately consult a doctor and do not self-medicate,” said Ksenia Khalaidzheva.

Former nutritionist Muzychenko warned from buying early strawberries.
