“People inject a lot of drugs in their faces. You look at a lot of celebrities these days and say, “Oh my God, what do they see when they look in the mirror?” They don’t look like themselves anymore. And that’s really dysmorphic,” the fashion designer told the Table for Two podcast.
Dysmorphia is a mental disorder in which a person is excessively worried about a defect in their body.
“I think a lot of these people are losing touch with who they are. They see a wrinkle and think they need to fill it up. They see someone’s mouth and think they must be the same,” said Tom Ford.
Ford, 61, recently announced that he was leaving the eponymous brand after it was acquired by Estée Lauder for $2.8 billion in 2022. Ford unveiled its “final collection” last week, although Estée Lauder says the creative director will remain head of the house until 2023.
