The main trend of modern aesthetic medicine is to focus on naturalness and uniqueness. Most plastic surgeons agree on this.
“Exaggerated, exaggerated lines of face and body are no longer in vogue. Pay attention to the latest photos of Kim Kardashian – despite her love for all things extravagant, her figure looks much more harmonious today than it did eight or nine years ago. Bella Hadid, Scarlett Johansson and even Pamela Anderson is voting for naturalness,” says Ph.D. Georgy Chemyanov, plastic surgeon and founder of the Chemyanov Medical Lounge aesthetic medicine clinic, to socialbites.ca.
The surgeons themselves attribute this to the fact that people are fed up with the influence of social networks and begin to appreciate their “otherness” to others. Which of the once “leading” trades is no longer valid?
“Dummy” rhinoplasty
Zoya Evsyukova, plastic and maxillofacial surgeon of the Klazko clinic, considers “baby” rhinoplasty the main anti-trend.
“A Disney princess has a bad nose today! A beautifully operated nose will have a flat or slight hump, which the plastic surgeon carefully protects by working finely on all the structures of the nose, ”the doctor is sure.
Tigran Aleksanyan, rhinoplasty specialist, MD, professor and chief physician of the Art Plastic clinic, confirms that the “baby nose” trend is gradually becoming a thing of the past. If before, many patients came to the consultation with a photograph of the nose that they would like to see on their face, today most clients rely on the hands, opinions and experience of a plastic surgeon.
“And a professional surgeon is never guided by a template, as it is guided by the anatomical structure of the face, its overall harmony and proportions. This is the only way to have a nose that will not put the effort of a surgeon and fit the image successfully,” he explains.
Andrey Enin, a plastic surgeon at Atlas multidisciplinary medical center, states that less demand is associated with such popular trends in the past, such as the extra-thin upturned nose that is disproportionate to the face.
“Modern rhinoplasty tends to make the plastic invisible. Naturalness, harmony, grace and harmony with facial proportions come to the fore,” says Enin.
“chest balls”
According to Amjad Al Yousef, leading plastic surgeon and founder of the DMC Center for Innovative Medicine, augmentation mammoplasty is another dying trend in plastic surgery.
“If many people tried to enlarge their breasts before, now the priority is harmony and naturalness. Most often, patients choose drop-shaped implants that look very natural. And they increase the breast volume by a maximum of 1-2 sizes, because they want to look harmonious and have shapes proportional to the body, ”explains the surgeon.
Tigran Aleksanyan confirms that the fashion for voluminous implants in the style of Pamela Anderson is gradually declining, and today most girls prefer naturalness.
“No one is chasing greatness anymore. The modern trend is harmonious proportions, proportionality, not round, but teardrop (anatomical) shape. In a word, nothing visually should betray the presence of implants,” he explains.
Zoya Evsyukova points out that many women today have mammary gland prostheses, prefer smaller-volume implants and even get rid of them by performing a plexus of their own tissues.
“The balls in the armpits are rough and cheap,” the surgeon says.
Hips, “Like Kim Kardashian”
Plastic surgeon Georgy Chemyanov recalls that 6-7 years ago, buttock augmentation surgery was very fashionable.
“The press wrote a lot about it, and it was number one at plastic surgery conventions. “There was an unspoken competition between surgeons and even patients over who would get the biggest butt,” he says.
According to the surgeon, today this approach is outdated – and it is not about the operation itself, but about the approach to it.
“Hip shape correction is still a very urgent demand and operations using liposculpture (combining liposuction and lipofilling) are in full swing. But instead of creating hypertrophic hips, doctors are working to achieve a sporty and fit butt as a result, ”explains the doctor.
Zoya Evsyukova agrees: An extraordinary fifth-point trend is no longer valid.
“Honestly, I didn’t get the idea of a big butt in the beginning. Of course, Kim Kardashian was able to keep her name by turning a disadvantage into a virtue, but like Kim you have to be Kim to have a fifth point. Otherwise, your additional focus on cellulite will only please the subscribers of your photoblog, but not your reflection in the dressing room mirror, ”says the doctor.
voluminous lips
Since the beginning of the 2000s, lip aesthetics with the megaphone technique has been in great demand in aesthetic medicine, and as a result, the upper lip becomes fuller, voluminous and even slightly outwardly turned.
“During the procedure, incisions were made under the nose and around the lip, and excess skin was removed and the muscles were sutured. The disadvantage of this operation is that after which scars remain, which are quite difficult to hide, ”explains Tigran Aleksanyan.
According to him, plastic surgeons today prefer injection methods to correct the shape of the lips – they are less traumatic and do not leave scars.
“The doll image thing called baby face is a thing of the past. No more sullen lips that make the face look vulgar. “More and more girls treat their lips with precision and trust their doctors with good aesthetic taste and a sense of proportion,” the surgeon says.
Amjad Al Yousef states that one of the most popular services in his clinic is the removal of biopolymer from the lips.
“This is because the fashion for super voluminous lips has passed and fillers don’t decompose. “A few years ago this was a big problem for patients, but today we have methods that can be used to easily and safely get rid of a filler that has been unsuccessfully injected.”
fox eyes
The “fox look” is another trend that, according to surgeons, it’s time to make it a thing of the past. The standard for the owner of the “fox eye” is the American supermodel Bella Hadid, whose face proportions were called “ideal” by the British surgeon Julian De Silva in 2019. But Russian surgeons are discouraged from the operation, considering it not as irrelevant as it is unsafe for health.
“fox eyes” with cut off eyelids – the most unpleasant thing you can think of. This is detrimental to health and not just an ugly consequence, because patients cannot close their eyes for years, sleeping with their face in a pillow or mask at night. And extensive scars only add to the problems and hit the budget in the process of skin restoration, ”explains Zoya Evsyukova.
Amjad Al-Yousef reassures: There has been much less demand for “eyes like Bella’s” lately, according to him.
“If old lips like Angelina Jolie, cheekbones like Kate Moss, fox looks like Bella Hadid and hips like Kim Kardashian are in fashion, now people need their own uniqueness. Of course, patients still want to look young and beautiful, but at the same time they want to remain as natural and themselves as possible, ”the doctor summarizes.
