American singer and actress Melissa Schuman has sued Backstreet Boys frontman Nick Carter for sexual assault and assault. It has been reported Page Six.
In court documents, Melissa Schumann claims that when she was 18, Nick Carter forced her to have sex against her will. The 38-year-old singer first accused a Backstreet Boys member of rape in 2017 and said, “The allegations against Harvey Weinstein were a big trigger for him.”
In February 2018, she filed a complaint with the Santa Monica Police Department, hoping that Carter would be prosecuted, but the Los Angeles County Attorney’s Office refused to prosecute because the statute of limitations had expired. However, a California law that went into effect earlier this year resurfaced sexual harassment allegations and extended the statute of limitations to report them.
Nick Carter denies all of Melissa Schumann’s allegations and filed a counterclaim in February 2023 against him and another woman named Shannon Ruth, who accused the star of rape. Carter claimed in her counterclaim that the women “conspired” to extort money from her.
Previously reportedher ex-husband Emily Ratajkowski was accused of sexual harassment.
