Before allowing a child to ride a scooter on the street, they must be taught how to properly group themselves when falling. Elena Pligina, pediatric traumatologist-orthopedist at the Nearmedic clinic on Polezhaevskaya, told socialbites.ca about this.

“Before allowing a child to ride a horse on the street, it is necessary to hone the grouping rules with him in case of a fall. For a safe landing, it is necessary to bend the elbows and knees, press the elbows to the body, ”said Elena Pligina.

He explained that it was possible to prevent fractures of limbs by grouping them properly.

According to the traumatologist-orthopedist, before the first trip it is also necessary to teach the child to drive. Especially slow down.

“You should only use the brake provided by the scooter design to stop and not try to brake with your feet to avoid injury,” the doctor said.

He added that the child should not only be able to stop, but also turn around and avoid obstacles. At the same time, do not neglect the protective equipment – elbow pads, knee pads, helmet and fingerless gloves.

The doctor noted that the child should only ride accompanied by adults and that you can get him the first vehicle when he walks confidently.

“It is recommended to buy a scooter for a child only after the baby has learned to walk, for a child over 2 years old it is best to buy a three-wheeled scooter. From the age of 4-5, you can switch to a two-wheeled scooter, ”explained Elena Pligina.
