British jewelry brand creates jewelry from discarded electronics

British jewelry brand Oushaba has launched a line of jewelry made from used electronics. It has been reported www.

The collection includes 38 items using printed circuit boards, charging cables, USB flash drives from mobile phones. In jewelry, they are combined with ethically sourced diamonds, rubies, emeralds and sapphires, as well as yellow and white gold and silver recovered from industrial waste.

As the company’s co-founder Gillian Carr points out, it upsets her that so much electronics end up in landfills.

“We wanted to look at the problem in a different way, to change how people think about what is garbage and what is luxury,” he explained.

Jewelry is made in the Art Deco style, as well as in the aesthetics of Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, and Ancient Rome.
