Nasturtiums, zinnias, and delphiniums are among the most popular garden flowers. This is evidenced by the results of a study by socialbites.ca from the online hypermarket VseInstrumenty.ru.
This year flower seeds were purchased 29% more than last year. Petunias, marigolds, nasturtiums, zinnias, delphiniums and asters were especially popular with Russians. The highest demand was recorded in Volgograd (+331%), Novosibirsk (+284%), Voronezh (+124%), Nizhny Novgorod (+65%) and Moscow (+26%).
In addition to flower seeds, summer residents bought ponds and fountains – the demand for this category increased by 140%. Among the figures that usually adorned these objects, the Russians were most interested in ducklings, water lilies and storks.
Decoration sales for gardens and cottages increased by 183%. Demand for garden lamps decreased by 3% throughout the country, but increased in certain regions: Yekaterinburg (+86%), St. Petersburg (+69%), Nizhny Novgorod (+28%) and Volgograd (+22%).
