Netflix’s ‘The Crown’ series is in danger of sparking new controversy after a photo shows a replica of the crashed car that killed Princess Diana. writes about it daily mail.
Images obtained by the Daily Mail show a black Mercedes used to shoot scenes in The Crown. The car’s wheels and hood are crumpled, the instrument panel sticks out through the cracked windshield, and the roof is almost gone.
In October, the show’s crew was spotted in Paris filming a car crash scene involving Princess Diana.
“The exact moment of the crash will not be shown,” Netflix said. But a source told the Daily Mail: “I think a lot of people would find it unhealthy to portray in such detail how the car was destroyed. I think it would cause a lot of discontent in the royal family. If it were another family, I’m not sure they would have done that.”
On August 31, 1997, Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul were killed in a collision in a Paris tunnel, while Princess Diana was hospitalized and later died of her injuries. The couple’s bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones, was the only survivor of the car crash.
