Yellow teeth can be caused by bad habits and poor oral hygiene. Luiza Avtandilyan, a dentist and founder of the Smilestudio clinic, told socialbites.ca about this.

“The most common cause of jaundice is smoking, as well as natural factors. With tobacco combustion products, tar, tar and nicotine settle on the surface of the tooth enamel, penetrating deep into the pores, causing it to darken. In addition, hot tobacco smoke damages the enamel and leaves micro-cracks on it.

In addition to smoking, the color of the teeth is affected by the “coloring” of food and drink. “Tea and coffee drinkers, carbonated drinks and wine drinkers, red berry and vegetable drinkers may also notice that their teeth are darkening and losing their shine. It’s all about tannins and chromogens, which are found in large quantities in “coloring” products. Active molecules of chemical compounds literally eat tooth enamel, causing its pigmentation. If it is not possible to refuse products that cause enamel staining, you should at least reduce the effects of coloring – drink it with a straw, rinse your mouth with water after eating or use sugarless gum, ”added Avtandilyan.

Another reason is the thinning of the enamel.

Among other causes of yellow teeth, the dentist called poor oral hygiene due to age, as well as the use of a brush with too soft bristles or improper toothpaste. “Over time, tooth enamel wears down and thins, which leads to discoloration. This natural process is inevitable, even if you do not have bad habits and adhere to a “white” diet, ”he stressed.
