In order to prolong the permanence of the perfume, it is necessary to apply it to the skin previously moistened with the cream. This was told socialbites.ca by Ilya Volkov, director of development of the Molecule perfumery and cosmetics project.

Persistent scents, according to Volkov, are usually made in the form of eau de toilette and are based on citrus notes. Moisturizing cream will help prolong their durability.

“If you’re concerned about odor retention, apply a moisturizer to your skin first—well-hydrated, nourished skin will help scents last longer,” she advised.

The perfumer says you can put one scent on top of another for the same purpose. “Choose molecular compositions as the first base scent – with various molecules of musk, amber, vetiver, “salty sea notes”, they will work to bring out your body’s aroma. Such molecules, often called “pheromones”, are the basis for any classical scent’s natural oils and additives. “By applying your favorite eau de parfum or perfume on top of the molecular scent, you’ll get a special, unique sound and a rich plume.”

“Brighter scents can be applied below the knee, lighter scents can be applied to the upper part of the body, or one scent to the left hand and one scent to the right. Diffusion of molecules in the air will create incredible smoke,” added Volkov.
