Dior’s creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, created a collection that brought back the fashion trend of the time, inspired by the famous French women of the 1950s. writes about it Guard.

The designer chose Catherine Dior, Juliette Greco and Edith Piaf as muses for the season, who “live very different lives, but share a sense of rebellion and love to wear black.”

The fashion show was opened by a model in a white shirt and plain plain black skirt. It was an homage to Greco, a Dior client in the 1950s. With a black beret and a Je Ne Regrette Rien t-shirt, the look was a reference to Piaf.

The collection was a moody, dark and stylish vision of the 50s with storm clouds of the next decade on the horizon.

The collection used modern fabrics that made clothes more flexible and lighter than in the middle of the last century. “The way I design clothes is very different from sculpture now. Less sensitive, less striving for perfection. I like it more, it’s warmer,” said Chiuri.
