Camilla Parker-Bowles, better known as the Duchess of Cornwall or simply Camilla, was crowned World War II in September 2022. Upon Elizabeth’s death, the queen became consort. She plans to change her title and become queen after her husband officially takes the throne.

However, II. Elizabeth also revealed other wishes regarding Camilla’s status in her February 2022 letter. “And I know that after a while, when my son Charles becomes king, you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support you gave me; and when the time comes, it is my heartfelt wish that Camilla will be crowned as queen consort while continuing her faithful service,” the Queen wrote.

The possible change came about last week when Camilla’s charity was renamed “The Queen’s Reading Room” instead of “The Duchess of Cornwall Reading Room”.

“There is a perception in the Palace that ‘Queen Wife’ is clumsy and it might be easier for Camilla to be referred to simply as the Queen when her time comes,” a source told the Daily Mail.

Charles III and Camilla will be crowned together on 6 May at Westminster Abbey.
