Dried bay leaf became a condiment in 2022, ranking third in popularity in Russia. In total, buyers of the Pyaterochka and Perekrestok chains bought more than 15.5 million packages. This was demonstrated by a study submitted to socialbites.ca.

Black pepper ranked first with over 34 million sales, followed by chicken and meat seasonings with over 23.3 million sales.

The list of the most popular seasonings also includes paprika, breaded mixes, borscht dressings, and hops-suneli spice mix.

It is noted that the demand for spices varies by region. Therefore, in the Kurgan region, turmeric is in great demand (11,000 units sold), and in the Kaliningrad region, a mixture for Bolognese sauce (more than 10,000 units) is in great demand. Residents of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug prefer spices based on sea kale, they bought more than 10 thousand goods.

In general, during the year in Russia buyers bought more than 290 million spices and seasonings.
