When the exact name seemed to be ‘Premios Soles’, artistic director Ramiro Gómez proposed the term ‘Goya’, the name eventually chosen by academics in parliament.
“The argument chosen to justify this decision is that, in addition to being a world-renowned painter and representative of Spanish culture, Goya is a short name and similar to those of Oscar or César existing in the United States and France.
