The process of choosing a tiara for Meghan Markle prior to her wedding to Prince Harry was overshadowed by a conflict with royal stylist Angela Kelly, who was unwilling to give away jewelery beforehand so she could experiment with the double style. The Duke mentioned this in his book “The Reserve,” reports daily mail.
As Prince Harry wrote, his mother’s sisters initially suggested that Meghan Markle wear one of Princess Diana’s jewelery at the wedding, and this touched the bride, who, along with the outfit designer, spent hours attaching a veil to Spencer’s tiara. However, shortly before the wedding, Elizabeth II approached the couple with a proposal to wear a headdress from her collection.
“He even invited us to Buckingham Palace to try them out. I remember saying “Please come” in the book.
According to the Duke of Sussex, the couple were allowed into the Queen’s private dressing room, where she had never been, and Elizabeth II, along with her royal jewelery expert, showed Meghan Markle five crowns that would suit her.
Queen’s stylist Angela Kelly was also present at the jewelery selection.
The couple decided on two jewelery pieces with emerald and aquamarine. After that, the queen advised to try them in advance with a hair stylist.
But when Prince Harry asked Angela Kelly to hand it over to Kensington Palace for her to wear the crown, she didn’t respond at first and then refused, citing that she would have to call the police to do so.
Later, Angela Kelly allowed her to buy jewelry in exchange for receipt.
“He gave me a goosebumps look. A clear warning was read on his face that this was not the end,” the duke’s autobiography states.
As a result, Meghan Markle married the diamond tiara in the center of a 10-diamond brooch given to her at the wedding of Prince Harry and Queen Mary of Teck in 1893 by representatives of Lincoln County in the United States.
