Between vaudeville, black comedy, and Agatha Christie-type crime plots, this second feature by Martín Cuervo works. Four years after their wedding in a rustic hotel, three couples and a widow are invited to the same establishment to spend a winter weekend. Two of these couples are still together. The third couple broke up, but as they say: “We are here because it’s free.” Although this kind of ‘Macguffin’ is not a big deal as he is found dead the next day, the hotel owner is blackmailing them.

The plot develops as planned. Suspect of all. They have good reason to commit to it. Two forest rangers (mother and son) arrive, but the body has disappeared. As the story progresses, we learn more about the different couples as we try to discover what really happened. The theoretical thriller mixes with the comic grace of actors like Julián López, Pablo Carbonell (deceased) and Toni Acosta. In addition to Christie, she is also influenced by the recent adventures of the detective Benoit Blanc in the ‘Daggers in theback’ saga, and ‘A Corpse in the Sweets’, a 1976 film that has gained influence over the years. that it was Truman Capote who invited the others to assassinate at the first opportunity.
