summary:
A new adaptation of the homonymous masterpiece of French literature by Honoré de Balzac. Starring Joséphine Japy (Fantasies), Olivier Gourmet (Letters to Roxane) and Valérie Bonneton (Little Little Lies). The director and co-author, especially writer and director Marc Dugain (Senegal, 1957), best known for his novel La chambre des officiers (Officer’s Lodge), was brought to the screen by François Dupeyron. Felix Grandet reigns in his humble home in Saumur, where his wife and daughter Eugénie live a distraction-free life. The extraordinarily stingy does not take kindly to suitors who are in a hurry to marry his daughter. Nothing should hurt the enormous wealth he hides from everyone. The sudden arrival of Grandet’s nephew, an orphan and bankrupt Parisian snob, turns the family’s life upside down.
