Foreign users noted that the Gucci ad refers to the USSR because of the hijab model. Campaign shots and comments posted on the brand’s social media accounts.

In the new photos, the model poses in the luxury brand’s red bomber jacket and colorful scarf. He is looking out the car window and holding a Gucci bag. The models did nude makeup, red manicure, and styled hair with close-to-face curls.

Not all social media users liked the winter advertising campaign. In the comments, they noted that the designers and stylists were inspired by the style of the USSR. Social media users wrote “Inspired by Russia?”, “Russian spirit”, “Atmosphere of Russia”, “Reminds me of the USSR”, “Russian girl in a headscarf”.

This is not the first scandal on social media. Zara fans were outraged at the choice of heroine for the new campaign – it was Russian supermodel Irina Shayk. Some viewed it as support for Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine and began to denounce the trade network in the comments. Social media users recalled that the brand offered a collaboration with Narciso Rodriguez in September, starring another famous Russian female supermodel, Natalia Vodianova.

Previously reportedIrina Shayk wore a swimsuit for the new Zara campaign.
