The Last of Us is expected to premiere in 2023. And the first episode of the new show was supposed to be quite long – about an hour and a half. That is, it is the length of a typical average TV movie.
According to IGN, the duration without credits will be about 90 minutes. This was done because of the plot features – in the first series they will talk about the origin of the virus, introduce the main characters, Joel and Ellie, before meeting.
At the same time, in some countries, as expected, the pilot episode will even be shown in cinemas a few days before the world premiere. The global launch of the series is expected on January 15, 2023 on the streaming service. The first season will have 9 episodes. It is not yet known whether the project will be renewed for a second season.
