165-year-old Levi’s jeans found on a sunken ship sold at auction for $114,000. It has been reported daily mail.

An auction house in Nevada has sold an unusual lot – 165-year-old Levi’s jeans found in the wreck of the Central American ship that sank in 1857. The auction fetched $114,000 for a miner’s work pants that were badly damaged by seawater. In addition to the old pants, Brooks Brothers shirts and the lid of the oldest known Wells Fargo gold shipping box went under the hammer. In total, the auction house helped sell the items found in the shipwreck for about $1 million.

Central America, also known as the Gold Ship, was used to transport gold during the California Gold Rush. The ship sank in the Atlantic Ocean when it was hit by a hurricane en route to New York in September 1857. About 270 pieces were salvaged from the wreckage found in 1988 and sold at auction.

Previously reportedthat the fashion house Maison Margiela is releasing bags in the shape of a fire bucket.
