Italian photographer Gabriele Galimberti, who filmed the scandalous advertisement for the Balenciga gift collection with children and teddy bears dressed in BDSM outfits, said he was wrongfully accused of pedophilia and complained mainly of threats from US social media users. The photographer said he was shocked by reports about him in a number of media outlets that reported “completely false” information and wrote “without even trying to call”.
“Fox News, Newsweek and The Daily Mail have written terrible things about me. Now I’m suing with lawyers. They clung to the story without looking whether it was true or false. As a journalist, I think it’s terrible. They’re just ruining my life,” Galimberti said.
The photographer complained that last week was terrible, as he received several threatening messages, including Instagram (the owner of Meta was considered an extremist company and banned in Russia) and Twitter – they said “Die, pedophile” and “You’re a sick man.” you’re perverted”. According to Galimberti, he hardly sleeps and his family is alarmed.
“Fortunately I live in Italy, not America. The photographer said, “90% of the messages come from the USA.”
He explained that he was not responsible for the artistic design of the photographs taken as part of the campaign, and that it was his first experience in the fashion industry in his 20-year career in advertising Balenciaga – Gabriele Galimberti is known as a documentary director.
“I hope the Balenciaga scandal doesn’t ruin my career as a documentary photographer. I’ve already lost a few projects that I had planned for the coming weeks,” said Galimberti.
