Deadline has reported that the upcoming film adaptation of Death Note has found a screenwriter. They became Halia Abdel-Meguid (Halia Abdel-Meguid), who managed to work on the script for the series “The Devil in the White City”, which is produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese.
Abdel-Megid is a fan of the original manga and anime series, is fluent in Japanese and previously lived in Tokyo. The screenwriter will collaborate with the Duffer Brothers, best known for Stranger Things.

The details of the new series have not been disclosed, but it is certain that it will not be associated with the failed 2017 film adaptation. The show will be released on Netflix.
