Hermes hats in the shape of an orange construction helmet went on sale at the Sotheby’s and Ebay online auction, causing a huge reaction on social networks. This has been reported daily mail.
First offered for sale at the Hermes boutique in Toronto in 2008 – this is indicated by the inscription “Toronto June 2008” – they cost between £600 and £8000 14 years ago. Sotheby’s is now selling them online for £5,750 and Ebay for £5,300.
Helmets are made of ordinary plastic of orange color and are distinguished from builders’ hats only by the inscriptions “Toronto June 2008” and Hermes.
Social media users are already outraged by the sale of ordinary plastic construction helmets by the French fashion house.
“I expected such bullshit from Balenciaga but Hermes? I’m so disappointed,” they ask on Twitter.
“I went to Selco,” commented one US resident, referring to a popular hardware store.
Formerly the home of Louis Vuitton released bag in the form of a can of purple paint.
