Princess Diana Lee Sansum’s former bodyguard said she would have survived the car accident had he been by her side the day she died on August 31, 1997. She said this in an interview with The Sun, she said.
“When I learned that they were not wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident, I understood why they did not survive. This shouldn’t have happened,” he said.
The man’s father, Egyptian billionaire Mohammed Al Fayed, ordered his son to wear a seat belt in his car at all times, according to Lee Sansum, 60, who works for 25-year-old Princess Diana and her lover Dodi Al Fayed.
“Dodi especially hated seat belts, but I always insisted on them,” said the couple’s former bodyguard.
Remembering exactly who would protect Princess Diana and her partner on August 31, 1997, Lee Sansum, the bodyguards decided by drawing lots – they pulled out a match.
“I took out a match and it took a long time,” he said.
Lee Sansum also stated that Princess Diana feared an assassination attempt. After the murder of his friend Gianni Versace on July 15, 1997, he asked if a professional hit man could do it.
“I thought I could do it. Then he said something that has stuck in my mind to this day: “Don’t you think they’re going to do that to me too?” He was shaking and it was clear from his tone that he really thought “they” could do it, no matter who these “they” were.
On August 31, 1997, Princess Diana, Dodi Al-Fayed and the driver of the Mercedes they drove, Henry Paul, died in the Paris tunnel on August 31, 1997. Guard Trevor Rees-Jones survived. Chronicle of the events of that previous night published “socialbites.ca”.
