“The furniture fabric used to upholster the sofa plays as important a role as the shape, size, configuration and choice of padding. Many fabrics are waterproof, making them suitable for families with pets and small children. They need to be durable and wear-resistant to withstand daily use,” the expert began.
Minimalism is still in fashion, he added, but it is warmer, more comfortable and more layered. The focus is now on unusually textured upholstery.
“This season, matte velvet upholstery in natural shades imitating suede is in fashion. A sofa in this design will perfectly fit into a bright environment or become an accent in a simple interior. The aesthetics of suede upholstery allows it to be harmoniously combined with other finishing materials, such as wood, glass or metal, thanks to which upholstered furniture fits into interiors of different styles, from classic to loft and boho,” Kosareva said.
The designer also noted the advantages of this flooring.
“Unlike natural suede, this upholstery is durable and practical. The short pile reduces the possibility of snagging and the fabric itself has a safe hypoallergenic composition,” he noted.
According to her, another trend of the season is upholstery made of boucle, a textured, hard fabric.
“This material gives a natural character to the entire interior, with reference to natural texture. Thanks to its natural tones and moss-like texture, it becomes possible to feel as calm and peaceful in your own living room as in nature. The fabric has no clear, repetitive structure, so there are no obstacles on it; the upholstery is also waterproof and easy to clean, which will keep the sofa in its original form for a long time,” the designer advised. .
As a result, Svetlana Kosareva noted that lambskin faux fur will be popular this season.”
“These are braids covered with small knots, reminiscent of astrakhan. The properties of the fabric are strong and wear-resistant, as well as retaining its shape and preventing deformation,” he said.
