Patrick McKay, one of the showrunners of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, said in a media interview that the project’s writers stuck with the original and did not pursue a snapshot. Therefore, the series will not have a modern agenda, allusions to our world and the like.
According to McKay, it was important for John Tolkien not to comment on the events of his time or anyone else, he wanted to create a myth that would be timeless. The authors set themselves the same task. The showrunner noted that the authors were trying to create something timeless so that the series wouldn’t look outdated in a few years.
At the same time, he explained that the changes happened because the Second Age of Middle-earth lasted thousands of years, so that only the elves would remain unchanged. The option of non-linear narration was also considered, but they decided against it.
The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power will premiere on September 2, with eight episodes in the first season. Previously, stills from the film and a new trailer appeared on the network, where they showed Sauron, who looks like Eminem. Porn file sharing appeared on Steam
