Another controversy unfolded around Star Wars. Actress Moses Ingram, who played the Third Sister in Obi-Wan Kenobi, took to Instagram to share “hundreds” of angry messages she received. According to the girl, such a reaction is associated exclusively with the color of her skin.
Ingram made several posts on stories. One user threatened her that her “days were numbered,” another wrote that the girl got the part only because the show’s creators were trying to achieve “diversity” in the cast.
Disney has already come out in support of Moses and declared on Twitter who do not tolerate such attacks. In total, two tweets received more than 120,000 likes.
Fan reaction to the tweet was mixed. Many disagree with the company’s position and are sure that the actress is criticized not for skin color, but for poor acting and a weak script. The same opinion was formed by visitors to Metacritic, where the viewer rating of “Obi-Wan” is 4.8 points.
The company was also accused of a policy of double standards, recalling that it did not respond to attacks on Gina Carano (Jina Carano), as well as cut out Finn from the Chinese Star Wars: The Force Awakens poster.
Another part of the fans sided with Moses Ingram. They note that John Boyega and Kelly Marie Tran, who played Finn and Rose Tico, once faced similar persecution.
