The most expensive Barbie doll in history sold for $302.5 thousand at Christie’s auction house. It has been reported New York Post.
Such a high price is due to the fact that the baby is wearing a necklace with real and very rare pink diamonds in one carat size. The unique piece for Barbie was created by Australian jeweler Stefano Kanturi. It was noted that the income from the doll was donated to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
“We are so excited to be able to sell the most expensive Barbie ever. We are thrilled that the seller has donated all proceeds to the Breast Cancer Foundation, Christie’s Americas President Bonnie Brennan told the NY Post.
Journalists of the publication noted that the prices of dolls rose significantly due to the “barbie craze” that swept across America due to the hype around Greta Gerwig’s new movie “Barbie”. Thus, the first Barbie doll, released in 1959 and costing only $3 at the time, is now selling for $25,000 on the eBay platform.
The first Barbie doll was created by American businesswoman Ruth Handler in 1945. Ruth founded the Mattel toy company with her husband and named the baby after her daughter Barbara.
Formerly Margot Robbie saw Thistle tea and kefir for Barbie doll skin.
