Tajikistan has offered to include many of its candidates, including the anecdotes of Khoja Nasreddin, on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List. These release reports Asian Plus with a link to the official website of the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The proposal to expand the list to phenomena related to the country’s intangible culture was put forward by the Tajikistan delegation at the 17th session of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which began in Morocco on 28 November. . The group is chaired by Zulfiya Burkhon, executive secretary of the UNESCO National Commission.
In addition to the anecdotes of Khoja Nasreddin, it was proposed to add other candidates from Tajikistan to the list of intangible heritage – “Traditional silk production for weaving”, “Mehrgon” holiday, “Traditional embroidery”, “Art of making” rubab and play on”.
It was noted that Hodja Nasreddin jokes were proposed to be included in the list of intangible heritage in 2020. Then it was a joint venture of several countries – Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkey.
Hodja Nasreddin is a folklore character in the anecdotes and short satirical stories of the peoples of the Muslim part of Asia as well as some Mediterranean and Balkan countries.
Şaşmak music and Nowruz festival are now included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity from Tajikistan. In 2018, the art of Tajik flashing embroidery was also included.
