the culture department of Alicante has established a youth and culture bonus program to encourage participation in cultural activities across the city. eligible recipients must be registered in the municipality of Alicante and hold a valid DNI or NIE, with the bonus awarded in specific scenarios designed to boost local cultural consumption.
the department has earmarked a total of 60,000 euros for this initiative, as announced in the official state gazette. this funding opens the door for organizations to participate, enabling grants that can be exchanged for tickets to live arts, audiovisual performances, cinema, museums and exhibitions, and for the purchase of books, records, CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs.
per the approved decision dated September 21, each eligible person may receive up to four vouchers, each worth 10 euros, usable as a discount on purchases at least twice the value of the voucher. these vouchers are designed to stimulate arts attendance and cultural purchases within the city.
each voucher remains valid for five calendar days from the date of issue. they are issued through a pre-booking system, and if not used within the validity window they return to the pool to be assigned to another eligible user.
the application period is set to run from the opening date through November 1, with an extension until December 5 or until all bonuses are allocated, whichever occurs first.
organizations and event organizers who wish to participate in this initiative must be located in Alicante or have their finances accounted for in the region. the deadline to join is October 17.
organizations or organizers of cultural events interested in taking part will submit their application via the city’s electronic office system. at the close of the period, a public listing on the municipal website will show the names and locations of all participating institutions and events.
the city council will also provide a web application to verify vouchers and present them to customers. this system ensures traceability from the voucher to the customer, the exchanging organization, and the corresponding sales document.
the culture council member Antonio Manresa emphasized that the measure aims to restore pre pandemic activity levels in the cultural sector and support local arts and culture enthusiasts.
in recent months the national government introduced a cultural bonus program for young people turning 18 in a prior year, offering substantial support for products and activities within the sector. the Alicante initiative aligns with these broader efforts to promote cultural participation among residents and visitors alike.
