Rosa Cuadrado’s main literary activity focuses on poetry, with her works being plaques for Cuaderno de viaje (Avant, 2017), Taxidermia (Olé Libros, 2019), and New York Sketches of New York (Frutos del Tiempo, 2020). Each book responds to a moment and a situation. It’s all part of it and it completes it. He recognizes himself in everyone, without leaving anyone who is a part of himself out of the list. The first is an inner journey, then the aching skin, and his last work is love and jazz photography.

It was 1 October when he presented Las gaviotas de Brighton, his last work in Elche, with the publishing house GARUM Ediciones. It wants to continue in this genre, but it is true that it will be in October with the Menguantes publishing house, which it will publish elsewhere, its trip to European bookstores and this travel narrative can be counted.

He remembered losing his father at some point in his life and felt the need to write something to him. It was “Elegy” published in the book Taxidermia and from then on the writing was overflowing. Pain has a basic weight, but it is not the only thing. His poetry is sincere and the emotion involved in the journey is persistent.

For him, poetry is fundamental because of mystery or emotion. “Poetry gives you oxygen,” he says, without belittling other genres. In any case, with regard to species, he thinks everything is very relative, because nowadays they are literally all coexisting and permeable.

There are two things in his poetic work: to start writing on a piece of paper, but then there is work. It’s a combination. Very interesting things happen when he develops collaborations with artists, and his literary project usually grows.

He thinks that poetry is also therapeutic, a good balm and consolation against the poison of life. Also, poetry is a good antidote.

Rosa Cuadrado coordinated Casa Mediterráneo’s Mediterranean Poetry Encounters; a very powerful experience where he can share the work they have developed with poets, live and online.
