Carlos de Castro: “When this is over, people will speak well of the Red Baron”

Well… for now it’s taking a long time to say goodbye because the pandemic has caught up with us. We don’t know how long it will last because the concerts keep coming and like all rock bands we are bad performers because we don’t know if we will continue. That was the approach, but we’ll definitely have to continue next year.

So you keep extending the dates.

Yes, but we do not know if the trend will continue because now there is a crisis or something, but there is demand.

But will you stay at home when this tour is over or are you planning to come back later?

We are theoretically at the final stage now, but you never know what will happen in the future.

A long farewell from this Baron…

Yes, in a way yes.

In what mood, bitterness, or contentment do you face this end of the stage?

Man, saying goodbye is always sad, but it’s more of a mental thing. We continue to work as if nothing happened. For the people and moreover, if this is going to be the last round, we have to do our best, so they are very happy and tell us ‘please don’t leave’. In any case, our intentions are clear and we want to do our best while we have the resources and resources available.

Have you considered a musical future without Barón Rojo?

We don’t plan to do any recording, if that’s what you mean.

What is tomorrow’s repertoire, classic songs, and some of the latest albums?

In the first part of the concert we usually play more unknown songs, from Barón Rojo’s second period, we usually sprinkle some songs among others, but the most famous songs come at the end.

Do you think the importance of Barón Rojo in Spanish rock history is adequately understood?

It is difficult for me to comment on this, I think yes to some extent. Maybe what we can say about ourselves will be said by people when we are no longer active. In general, people have always been very nice to us, in a way that is totally undeserved to me. I think they’ll talk well when this is over.

Has your audience evolved in these forty years?

Yes, a younger audience usually comes in, but the bulk of our viewers have grown taller like us. Other than that, rock is still in the minority for young people today. There have been many changes in traditions and hobbies lately. People who follow rock must have got it from their parents and there is ignorance, very little is said about rock.
