Director Nikita Mikhalkov explained why Klim Shipenko’s film “Kholop” is popular with Russians. He stated that people want to “know and love” themselves on screen, and Shipenko’s tape lived up to those expectations. His words lead TASS.
“[Этот фильм] He meets the needs of a simple person who cannot tolerate majors and idlers, despises them and takes great pleasure when he sees this major being shaken from the Brioni team and whipped in the barn, and as a result, he becomes a normal person. Why? Because most, a Russian person appreciates justice and mercy. This is a national cinema,” said Mikhalkov.
The premiere of the comedy “Kholop” took place in December 2019. It became the highest-grossing film in Russian cinema history, followed by the sports drama Movement Up.
Formerly Mikhalkov published A video about tolerance after Pugacheva’s criticism.
