“Yes, it may not be Russian cinema, it will just be a gray mass… Of course, it may not be an independent serious cinematic art,” he said.
According to the director, Russian cinema can spoil without modern tools, internships for specialists and participation in international film festivals.
Sokurov also noted that the current procedure for issuing distribution certificates deprives young people of creative freedom and slows down the development of feature and documentary films.
“Young people need the freedom to create art,” he stressed.
