Aida Tarrio is one of the three members of the group. Tanxugueiras with his sisters Olaia and Sabela ManeiroGalician music group that pioneered the sale of records in physical stores with Diluvio. They were among the public’s favorites at Benidorm Fest, but failed to become the Spanish representative at Eurovision. Since then, their professional careers have skyrocketed and they are fourth in digital listening in Spain. This Saturday night, they will be performing in Sant Joan as the main route for La Lluna en Vers Festival and in the middle of their Midas tour.
How does it feel to be a group most discs sells in stores and is one of the most listened to?
Cool. The fact that people consume and care about your music is a huge reward for all these years of work. Glad to meet.
In a few months their careers skyrocketed, they have already released their third album. Had they dreamed of arriving where they are now?
We never set goals for ourselves, we were always girls who trusted our project and believed that it could reach anywhere, but of course we didn’t think so quickly… We thought about it with hard work and hard work. efforts, we’ve been able to get to this point over the years, but the truth is it came to us much faster and we were so grateful.
And how did they digest it?
It’s hard because you have a lot of new things to learn very quickly, and it’s hard, especially when it comes to being so exposed. But in the end it’s something you learn to manage.
Up until this year, what was accepted? music From Tanxugueiras?
Very good. They have always loved our music in Galicia, but we had the opportunity to go to India, Cuba, Scotland, and there the traditional music and especially the music of the Tanxugueiras were incredibly received. The traditional song, thecantaeiras song, is something very exotic to people and it’s very crazy. Kante is something very deep and very brave that they didn’t expect, because like many others they see us as Celtic and associate us with Irish or Scottish music… and finally they find that the canteen has nothing to do with it and it’s a surprise.
And in Spain. How was the admission?
So good, what’s happening is that we don’t have a route to go to many parts of Spain and see the acceptance we got this year. Yes, it’s true that the concerts we did when we went to play in the Basque Country and Catalonia were always well received.
Do you think you’ve made a breakthrough in music by giving voice to other, more traditional styles in front of the public?
We feel that we are walking on this path, because it is true that there are many references in Galicia that have opened doors before, and we are behind, there are women who opened this path even more, bringing together women like Leilía or Mercedes Peón without always forgetting our references. it’s all easy for us.
They didn’t win Benidorm Fest, but apparently they didn’t need it either.
I think all the artists out there are winners in some way. We feel super winners because more people know and listen to us, we’ve had almost 80 concerts this summer, if this isn’t winning…
What will you watch at the concert tomorrow?
Well, it’s a very powerful concert, a lot of strength and empowerment, it has a lot of traditional grounding, frankly, the common theme of the live show is language and pride for oneself. And best of all, they will see three girls with a great desire to show their culture to the people of Mallorca.
Which of the deadly sins that inspired your album do you prefer?
With gluttony, because I see, especially through social networks, that human bodies, both male and female, are heavily condemned. When it comes to women, it’s like you’re supposed to be perfect, our bodies are supposed to be perfect and what we claim is that being healthy is enough for us and all bodies are precious and apparently people don’t know and that’s the first thing they attack to do damage.
