On August 10, Finnish singer Vesa-Matti Loiri, known by the pseudonym Vesku, passed away. He was 77 years old. The artist’s death was told by his manager, Peter Eklund. NEWS WITH YLE.

Prime Minister Sanna Marin joined in the condolences, saying that the singer is “the interpreter of the Finnish spirit”.

Loyri represented her country in the 1980 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Huilumies”. The composition scored just six points, finishing in nineteenth place. Despite losing the show, the singer gained immense popularity in the country. Almost a million copies of his debut album were sold.
